Company Overview: Sublimation Health is committed to revolutionizing healthcare by delivering advanced technology solutions that enable health systems to focus on patient care and innovation. As we expand our cloud infrastructure to support critical healthcare applications, including Epic EHR systems, we seek a skilled Enterprise Cloud Engineer specializing in AWS. Join our team and play a pivotal role in building and maintaining the cloud environment that powers the future of healthcare.

Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled AWS architect with healthcare industry experience to join our team. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in AWS infrastructure management with practical knowledge of healthcare IT environments. You should understand the unique challenges of supporting healthcare systems, including compliance requirements like HIPAA and the workflows of clinical applications.

This role will require someone who can apply their technical AWS expertise within the specific constraints and requirements of healthcare IT, ensuring our cloud infrastructure supports the delivery of essential healthcare services and protects sensitive patient information.

Your primary responsibility will be configuring, maintaining, and optimizing AWS environments to ensure security, reliability, and performance.  This is a hybrid role that will require being able to produce enterprise ready cloud engineering solutions well as development responsibilities to deploy them. While we're looking for someone who has worked in healthcare settings and understands the industry context, your technical proficiency in AWS services, solutioning, development, system administration, and infrastructure automation remains the most critical qualification.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Cloud Architecture Design: Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient AWS cloud architectures for healthcare applications, focusing on high availability, disaster recovery, and healthcare compliance standards.

    • Healthcare IT Integration: Seamlessly integrate cloud infrastructure with healthcare IT systems, including Epic EHR platforms, interface engines, clinical applications, and other critical healthcare software.

    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop reusable Python AWS CDK packages and deploy them through CI/CD to address architectural challenges with emphasis on standardization and repeatability.

    • Cloud Security: Implement comprehensive AWS security using native services, encryption, endpoint detection, and robust monitoring. Engineer all projects with security as a foundational principle.

    • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize AWS services with focus on EC2, EBS, and network bandwidth/throughput performance.

    • Cost Management: Optimize AWS resource expenditure through usage monitoring, instance rightsizing, and strategic use of cost-saving features.

    • Migration and Integration: Support and perform AWS migrations of healthcare applications, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems while minimizing disruption to hospital operations and patient care.

    • Monitoring and Logging: Implement comprehensive monitoring solutions using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party tools to maintain visibility into cloud infrastructure health, aligned with healthcare IT requirements.

    • Collaboration and Support: Partner with DevOps, security, and application teams to ensure the cloud environment fully supports the healthcare software development lifecycle and production operations.

    • Documentation: Maintain detailed cloud infrastructure documentation and procedures that comply with healthcare IT standards and facilitate organizational knowledge transfer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Candidate should have all of these

    • High Availability Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience designing and implementing highly available applications in AWS environments, including fault-tolerant architectures and disaster recovery strategies.

    • Infrastructure as Code Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience managing infrastructure through code in CI/CD environments for CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK. Demonstrated ability to version, test, and deploy infrastructure changes through automation rather than manual configuration. Familiarity with GIT version control.

    • PowerShell Proficiency: General knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation and infrastructure management. Demonstrated interest in and commitment to managing a code-first environment.

    • Python Requirements: While Python is the primary language for this position, we're open to candidates with foundational Python skills who demonstrate strong scripting abilities and a solid computer science background. Exceptional performance in other engineering competencies can compensate for limited Python expertise, given the role's diverse technical demands.

    • Windows Systems Administration: Proven experience managing hybrid Windows environments spanning both AWS cloud and on-premises infrastructure, including Active Directory integration, Windows Server administration, and secure network connectivity between environments.

    • AWS Certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification, with thorough knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM).

    • Healthcare Compliance Understanding: Basic knowledge of HIPAA requirements and healthcare data protection standards as they apply to cloud environments.

    • Security Knowledge: Understanding of security best practices for protecting sensitive data in cloud environments, including encryption, access controls, and security monitoring.

    • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud issues and optimize infrastructure performance within a healthcare framework.

    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including non-technical stakeholders, and explain complex technical concepts.

    • Patient-Centric Focus: A commitment to ensuring that cloud infrastructure supports high-quality patient care by maintaining the reliability and security of healthcare IT systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – Candidate must have some of these

    • Advanced Load Balancer Expertise: Expert-level experience with AWS Application Load Balancers and/or NetScaler Load Balancers, including complex routing rules, SSL termination, session persistence, and performance optimization in high-traffic environments.

    • Advanced DevOps Skills: Expert-level PowerShell scripting capabilities or Python AWS CDK experience. Demonstrated expertise deploying and managing enterprise solutions building CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and deployment processes.

    • Hybrid Cloud Implementation: Has architected and deployed multiple hybrid AWS/on-premises environments, with in-depth understanding of AWS Systems Manager (SSM) and secure cross-environment communication patterns.

    • AWS Certification (Advanced): AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification. Additional certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified Security – Specialty.

    • Healthcare IT Experience: Previous experience working with healthcare applications, EHR systems, or clinical workflows. Experience solutioning with the unique requirements for healthcare data management and availability.

    • AWS Networking Specialist: Experience designing and implementing complex connectivity solutions between multiple on-premises data centers and AWS, including Direct Connect Gateway configurations, Transit Gateway architectures, and route management across disparate networks. Experience troubleshooting complex networking issues in hybrid environments.

    • AWS Landing Zone Accelerator Experience: Experience deploying and customizing AWS Landing Zone Accelerator for enterprise environments, including implementing security controls, account structures, and customizations that align with healthcare industry requirements and organizational governance policies.

    Preferred Tech Stack Experience:
